We know your children are some of the most important people in your lives. They are just as important to everyone at Novant Health Village Point Family Medicine. We work to provide remarkable pediatric care to patients of all ages.
One of the best things you can do as a parent is to get your children regular preventive care. This gives your child time to get to know and trust your provider and gives your provider chances to catch small concerns before they become larger problems. Your child's provider will monitor growth and development in addition to treating acute medical problems.
Typically, well-child checkups are scheduled at the following ages:
- A few days after hospital discharge after birth.
- One month.
- Two months.
- Four months.
- Six months.
- Nine months.
- One year.
- Fifteen months.
- Eighteen months.
- Two years.
- Annually until age 18.
When your child is sick, you need help for them and information for you as quickly as possible. Our providers leave same-day and next day appointments available to see sick patients, and also see walk-in patients without appointments. Should your child become sick outside of regular office hours, a call to our office will let your reach our triage team, which will help you determine whether your child needs immediate attention or if your child's provider needs to be contacted.
School, camp and sports physicals
Often, physical exams are required before your child can attend camp or school, or participate in a sport. This is to ensure he can participate without endangering himself or anyone else. The providers in our office can usually complete needed camp, sports or school physical forms during your child's well-child checkup. Please bring any forms you have been given with you to your child's appointment as we might not have access to those forms.
If additional testing is needed to complete a form outside of that included in a well-child checkup, there might be an additional charge if these services are not covered by your insurance.
